Q. Do I need Wi-Fi to connect to PYXEL?

A. No! PYXEL has its own built-in Wi-Fi that connects directly to your device. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled device (such as a computer, tablet, or phone) to connect to PYXEL.

Q. How do I know if PYXEL is connected to my device?

A. In your browser, go to local.codewithPYXEL.com. The PYXEL user interface (UI) will load (this may take a minute or two). You will know PYXEL is connected when the UI opens.

Q. What if PYXEL won't connect to my device?

A. Disable the auto-connect feature on the Wi-Fi networks you frequently use. PYXEL does not use the internet and your device may auto-disconnect from PYXEL in favor of a network that has internet connectivity. Make sure that PYXEL's power switch is turned on and the battery is charged. You can also reboot PYXEL by switching the power off, waiting 30 seconds, and powering it back on. Q. Can I use my phone to code with PYXEL?

A. While it is possible, we recommend using a tablet or laptop to code because of its larger screen.

Q. What if PYXEL slows down, takes a break, or shuts down?

A. This means that PYXEL has reached low battery and needs to be recharged. Charge PYXEL using the provided USB cable.

Q. Can I clean PYXEL?

A. Yes! Carefully wipe PYXEL's surface with a slightly damp or dry cloth. Do not immerse or spray any liquid on PYXEL.

Q. Where can I play with PYXEL?

A. Always play with PYXEL on a large, flat surface like the floor. While PYXEL can sit on a table while you code, do not run code with PYXEL on a table, for risk of it falling off and breaking. Try a hardwood floor, thin carpet, concrete, or other flat surfaces.

Q. Is the PYXEL Wi-Fi network secure?

A. Yes, the network is safe and secure. PYXEL never connects to the internet and will never store sensitive information. When you first connect to PYXEL and open PYXEL's User Interface, you will be prompted to create a password. PYXEL will reboot and launch a secure password protected network (please see Quickstart Guide for more information).

Q. PYXEL came with a password, what do I do?

A. If your PYXEL came with a password it should be 12345678. PYXEL may automatically prompt you to reset the password after you've logged in with the original password. If not, you can reset your password. Watch the Password Reset video for more help.

Q. How do I reset PYXEL's Wi-Fi network password?

A. Turn PYXEL ON. Wait for it to sit. Quickly turn it OFF and then back ON 3 times. It'll beep twice and the waist Light will turn Yellow. Turn PYXEL back OFF, wait 3 seconds, and turn ON again. Reconnect to PYXEL following the steps outlined in the Quickstart Guide. Watch the Password Reset video for more help.

Q. The Code Activator isn't working, what do I do?

A. First, make sure that PXYEL is fully charged, and your Code Activator has working batteries that are inserted correctly. Turn PYXEL ON and wait for it to sit. Point your Code Activator at the top of PYXEL's head (from less than 12 inches away); the #1 button should be at the top and the front of the Code Activator has a small LED in it. If your Code Activator still isn't working, you should re-pair it with PYXEL. To do this, turn PYXEL ON and wait for it to sit. Quickly, turn it OFF and back ON 6 times (landing on ON). PYXEL will beep twice, and the waist light will turn Red; then, after a small delay, it will beep one more time. Turn PYXEL OFF, wait 3 seconds, and turn it ON again. PYXEL's ears will briefly flash Red. Wait for PYXEL to sit. Point your Code Activator at PYXEL and hit any button (this may take a few tries). Q. The Code Activator is activating multiple PYXELs, what do I do?

A. The Code Activator may have gotten paired to multiple PYXELs. You need to reset the Code Activator and re-pair it to the PYXEL you want it to trigger. Make sure only one PYXEL is turned ON and in range while doing this. To reset your Code Activator: turn PYXEL ON and wait for it to sit. Quickly, turn it OFF and back ON 6 times (landing on ON). PYXEL will beep twice, and the waist light will turn Red; then, after a small delay, it will beep one more time. Turn PYXEL OFF, wait 3 seconds, and turn it ON again. PYXEL's ears will briefly flash Red. Wait for PYXEL to sit. Point your Code Activator at PYXEL and hit any button (this may take a few tries). Q. How do I update PYXEL?

A. Go to CodeWithPYXEL.com/update on your device and download the update file (you will need internet connection to do this). Connect to PYXEL and go to Settings, then Update. On your device, choose the file you just downloaded and open it. PYXEL with update and restart! Watch the How to Update PYXEL video for more help.

Q. My PYXEL is leaning or off-balance, what do I do?

A. PXYEL's front leg may need adjusting. When you turn PYXEL ON, it will quickly move into a standing pose, and then will sit. While it's standing, PYXEL's two front legs should be even; if they are uneven (one is further forward than the other) you can adjust them! Turn PYXEL OFF. Hold PYXEL's body in one hand and grab PYXEL's right front leg in your other (PYXEL's right side when facing away from you). Quickly rotate PYXEL's leg either forward or backward to match PYXEL's front left leg (This should make a loud clicking noise, if you're hearing a whirring noise, you're not moving the leg quickly enough). Turn PYXEL ON again and check the leg alignment in the standing position to check the adjustment. Repeat adjustment process if needed. Watch the Help Adjust PYXEL's balance video for more help.
