Cupcake Tin

Counting Nests

Cut out the number nests from the worksheet and place them in a cupcake tin (or make your own nests out of household items and assign each nest a number). Challenge your kid to match the number in the nest by rolling out egg shapes from Playfoam®, Playfoam Naturals, recycled paper, dough, or other things from around the house!

Build a Number Sentence

Build a number sentence with tiles from the printable to practice basic addition and subtraction. For example, 4 + 2 = ____

Roll out four eggs using one color. Roll out two eggs using another color. Place all eggs in the nest. Count the eggs altogether to find the sum. Try it for addition and subtraction with numbers 1-10 to practice basic math skills with hands-on play!

Number Bonds

Count the number of eggs in your nest. Find two number cards that add up to that number. For example, if you have 7 eggs in your nest, find 3 and 4. Try it with numbers 1-10 or 1-20 for older kids, and mix up the number order for an added challenge!

You can download number cards 1-20 to use with any counting activity here!

The advantage of hands-on activities like this is that they turn basic counting and math learning into an interactive, sensory-stimulating, and fine motor-building experience. This helps kids stay engaged and keep their hands busy and moving so their brains can stay focused and on-task.
