6 Super Cute Halloween Costumes That Incorporate a Face Mask

Getting kids to keep their masks on is practically a full-time job. Add the excitement of socially-distanced Halloween parades and trick-or-treating and mask wearing might just go out the window, unless the mask is part of the costume! To help keep everyone safe and sane this Halloween, we’re sharing six super fun Halloween costume ideas that include an adorable face mask.
Puppy!
Dog-gon’ it, this DIY puppy costume is cute! Start with a reusable dog face mask from EI, then spray paint a pair of tan sweats (make sure you choose a pair with a hooded sweatshirt!) with brown puppy spots. Snip two puppy ears and a tail out of brown felt and use a safety pin to attach them to the hood and seat of your kiddo’s sweatsuit and voila! Puppy power!
Fox
Or maybe your little one is feelin’ foxy! Grab a furry vest online and pair it with coordinating sweats or leggings and a solid-colored long sleeve. Or choose a fluffy orange sweater and pants. Get ready for some prehistoric time traveling in this adorable dino costume! Kids can really sink their teeth into this simple shark costume, complete with shark face mask from EI! Start with a zip up hoodie and matching sweatpants and use fabric glue to add a white patch of felt to the front of the sweatshirt and a jagged ring of felt teeth around the opening of the hoodie (time saving tip – cut notches out of a single strip of felt and glue the strip, rather than cutting and gluing individual teeth). Cut a triangular fin out of stiffened felt, fold a 2” strip at the base, glue to the back of your child’s hoodie and voila!

The leaves are changing and crisp fall air is upon us…the perfect time to head out into nature! Not only does time spent in nature promote exercise and fresh air (duh), but it has also been shown to build confidence, promote creativity and imagination, and reduce stress and fatigue (we’re all feeling a bit of both these days, no?). Since we’re all spending more time indoors now, getting out into nature is more important than ever before. The weather is brisk and cool and there are so many amazing things to discover and do, both on your walk and after, like:Count the Colors!
On your walk: Colorful leaves are one of the most amazing things about fall. See if you can spot brown, yellow, orange, red, and multicolored leaves. Take a few of your favorites home with you and…At home: Try printing them in paper clay and painting them, turning them into autumn suncatchers, making crayon rubbings, and more. This pandemic has touched every corner of our lives, from work to school to home – and now it’s messing with some of our most favorite holidays! Since many cities across the country may not be allowing trick-or-treating, we’re sharing some spooky ideas (six to be exact) for celebrating Halloween at home. Whether you’re gathering your small, COVID-careful pod of people together to party in your backyard or keeping the fun to family only, check out these ghoulishly great activities and make this Halloween one to remember!1.
