Getting kids to keep their masks on is practically a full-time job. Add the excitement of socially-distanced Halloween parades and trick-or-treating and mask wearing might just go out the window, unless the mask is part of the costume! Puppy!

Dog-gon’ it, this DIY puppy costume is cute! Start with a reusable dog face mask from EI, then spray paint a pair of tan sweats (make sure you choose a pair with a hooded sweatshirt!) with brown puppy spots. Start by cutting spots of varying sizes out of yellow felt and using adhesive Velcro dots or fabric glue to attach them to the top and bottom of a green sweatsuit. Start with a zip up hoodie and matching sweatpants and use fabric glue to add a white patch of felt to the front of the sweatshirt and a jagged ring of felt teeth around the opening of the hoodie (time saving tip – cut notches out of a single strip of felt and glue the strip, rather than cutting and gluing individual teeth). Cut a triangular fin out of stiffened felt, fold a 2” strip at the base, glue to the back of your child’s hoodie and voila!
